Liv is a main character on the Netflix original sci-fi series Tribes of Europa. She is portrayed by Henriette Confurius.
Liv of the Origines spent her entire life hidden within the forest alongside her tribe. When they were massacred by the Crows who were in search of the Atlantian pilot and cube, Liv joined the Crimson Republic in pursuit of tracking down what was left of her family to Brahtok, where they were being held as slaves. Having aligned with the Crimson, Liv spent most of her time getting close to Commader David Voss and trying to earn the trust of a captured Crow — Grieta, hoping that she would lead them into Brahtok. In the end, the plan fails when David and his rogue band of Crimsons kill General Cameron and Grieta, leading Liv to seek refuge with the Femen.

Chapter 1[]
Liv, Kiano, and Elja of the Origines are out hunting and manage to snag a wolf. They suddenly take cover as a hover jet soars above their head and crashes nearby. Kiano wishes to investigate, but Liv warns him that the aircraft is from the outside world and that it could be dangerous. However, Elja informs her that the unidentified object is from the New World. They return to their tribe with the wolf as part of Elja's initiation and inform their father of a modern aircraft from the New World. Jakob is in disbelief, but they assure him that one has crashed at the northern end of the forest. Kiano makes a case to investigate, but Jakob declines his request. Jakob reminds them that they are Origines and that they have always kept out of the business of outsiders.
Kiano refuses to accept his father’s decision to simply ignore the aircraft crash. He notes that Liv is like their father in many ways, which is why he respects her over him. She will continue his legacy, not him. Kiano intends to check out the crash on his own. He then asks Elja if he would like to join, suggesting that he might even find answers about Black December and why the Old World ended. Liv reminds him that it’s not worth it and preps Elja for his initiation, telling him that their mom would be proud of him and that no matter what happens, the three of them will always be together.
Liv tells her father that Kiano was right about wanting to investigate the crash. Someone could’ve survived and be in need of help. Jakob replies that he must protect the tribe at all cost and that he’ll always lead them in the principles of her mother. Liv reminds her father that "All life is one" is also one of her ethics.
The following morning, the tribe heads out to investigate the crash. There, they find the abandoned aircraft riddled with bullet holes. Elja looks over and sees a strange black cube. He recovers the object and hides it in his pouch, unbeknownst to the others. They then start to question the location of the pilot. Mark suspects that the pilot may have made his way to Little Praha. Jakob and Mark decide to investigate further while sending the others back, leaving Liv in charge rather than Kiano.
Liv suspects that Kiano wants to leave the tribe to see what more the world has to offer. She tells him that only savages and danger await him in the outside world. She reminds him that his place is with them in the Refugium. Kiano tells Liv that he’s an Origine and that he always will be.
Liv and Kiano discover Elja trying to sneak away and realize that he found the pilot. Elja takes Liv and Kiano to the injured pilot, who is near death. They find a stretcher and carry him back to the Refugium, unbeknownst to the siblings that they’re being watched by Grieta of the Crows. They take the Atlantian pilot to Luise, who manages to do the best that she can, however, the pilot has lost a lot of blood.
They are joined by their father, who tells them that they must stick together as a family. They are then startled by the sudden sound of gunfire. Jakob joins Mark, who informs him of screams coming from the forest. Before long, they find themselves surrounded by Grieta and the Crows, led by Varvara. Jakob informs them that they can take the Atlantian and that there’s no need for bloodshed. The crows don’t speak. However, simultaneously, they all seem to inhale some sort of gas before attacking, forcing the Origines to defend their home. Elja flees whilst Jakob, Mark, Liv, and Kiano fight off the invaders.
Liv combats Grieta, and Jakob fights Varvara whilst Elja escapes the Refugium with the cube. Unfortunately, Liv is stabbed and her lifeless body thrown into the stream.
Chapter 2[]
Liv awakens in a stream. She ties a knot around her wound and makes it back to her feet and into the Refugium, where she finds the slaughtered remains of her tribe, all except her brothers and father. When she hears the Crows approaching, Liv grabs her crossbow and flees into the nearby woods, where she crosses paths with Grieta, who Liv shoots in the shoulder with a crossbow before pinning her to the ground. Grieta informs Liv that her family has been taken to Brahtok. However, it’s an impenetrable fortress that Liv will never be able to gain access to. She then urges Liv to finish her off, but the Crimsons arrive, led by Commander David Voss and asks Liv to put her blade down. Corporal Yeboa sneaks up from behind and knocks Liv unconscious.
Liv awakens hooked up to an IV. She overhears David, Merk, and Yeboa discussing their next course of action in regards to their Crow captive. Liv then notices that they’ve healed her wound. David explains that she’s in Camp Arhenberg, an outpost of the Crimson Republic. Liv reveals that the Crows were after an Atlantian pilot and attacked their tribe in search of him. David asks if the pilot had a cube, which Liv claims he didn’t. As for the hover jet, she says it crashed at the northern end of the forest. Liv then notes that her family was taken to Brahtok, where she intends to go after them. David warns her that Brahtok is a fortress that’s completely barricaded. They’ve searched daily for years to find a way in. Liv replies that a map is all she needs.
Corporal Yeboa takes Liv to the maps. He reveals to her that Camp Arhenberg is the last outpost of the Republic before the Crow territory. They’ve been stationed there for about a year. They protect other tribes in exchange for goods. And many people from different tribes join them to fight for a new Europa. He informs Liv that there’s a place for her with them, if she saw fit. They fight for peace, led by their founder, General J. Arhenberg for the last 28 years. As for the Crows, they are dangerous killers, but when it comes to honor and integrity, Corporal Yeboa admits that they are admirable, as a Crow never breaks their word or lies. He then shows her a map of Brahtok, formerly Berlin, about four or five days away on foot. She’ll have to cross the territory of the Newlanders and the Black Skulls. He warns her to avoid Leipzig, as there were four hostile Raider clans at war. He also warns her that Berlin is Crow territory. The outer ring is mined and full of snipers. The tunnels and subways are flooded, guards are on the barricades 24/7. The only way into the city is as a slave or Crow.
David and Merk discuss the crashed Atlantian hover jet and dangers that would befall them all should the Crows recover that technology first. Corporal Yeboa then arrives with Liv, who wishes to speak with the Crow prisoner, Grieta. Liv must know exactly where in Brahtok to find her family. She suspects the prisoner will talk to her, as she isn’t Crimson. David reluctantly agrees. He informs Liv that they’ve never managed to capture one of the Crows’ Bozies (warriors) until now. Usually, they kill themselves before they can be captured. Liv asks what it is that David wants her to find out. He explains that they have the same goal as Liv — a way into the city of Brahtok.
Liv approaches Grieta’s cell and asks why they attacked Little Praha so viciously. She reveals that they were after the Atlantian pilot. The cube is the key to great power. She then asks what Liv wants, which is a way into Brahtok. Grieta informs Liv that the remaining members of her tribe were taken to be slaves at a wolk factory. She says they’ll have three to four months before they parish from the poisonous gases and their bodies will be fed to the pigs. Liv informs Grieta of her plan for the two of them to go to Brahtok and recover her family. Liv will break her out in exchange for her family’s safe return. However, she demands that Grieta give her word, as Crows can’t break their promises.
Liv informs David that she’s tricked Grieta into thinking that she can free her. Grieta promised to return Liv’s family should she get her out. She is prepared to give Liv her trust whilst Liv devises her alleged escape plan. With Liv wanting to free her family and David seeking a way into Brahtok, she believes they can work together. Should she find a way in, she expects that David will help to get her people out.
Chapter 3[]
Liv stands alone in the woods near Camp Arhenburg. David warns her that the woods are dangerous, but she’s spent her entire life in the forest and knows how to navigate the trees. She revealed that they would often trade with Little Praha. They had an agreement with Little Praha, who wouldn’t tell anyone they existed, which is why the Crimson didn’t know of the Origines until a few days ago. Liv’s mother founded the tribe before she was born. Less than 12 people at the time. Until a few days ago, they numbered almost 50. David promises Liv that they will rescue her family.
Grieta asks Liv how she intends to break her out. Liv reveals that they’ve given her a job as a prison guard. Eventually, they’re going to give her a transponder to open the locks. Grieta remarks that Liv has made remarkable progress in such little time. Liv then asks Grieta how she intends to free her family. However, Grieta refuses to give Liv any more information until she’s free.
Liv reports back to David; she fears that Grieta won’t be easily fooled. Liv will have to prove that she has a credible escape plan. Liv proposes that she break the prisoner out and once she has enough information, she’ll signal them, and they’ll capture her and the Crow. However, David remarks that it’s too risky. They’ll stick to the plan of Liv working as a prison guard to gain her trust.
Liv visits Grieta in her cell after the Crimson failed to recover any Atlantian technology. However, before they go any further, Liv wants to know just how they’re getting past the barricade unnoticed. Grieta calls Liv over and grabs her by the throat, having realized that Liv is in cahoots with the Crimson. She questions what they offered Liv, referring to her as a Crimson before telling her to get out.
Liv reveals to David that her cover is blown. Without a means to get past the barricade, their mission is delayed. With that, Liv decides to leave, but David tries to convince her to stay as a Crimson. Sooner or later, the Republic will attack Brahtok, and David will be there fighting on the front lines. He hopes that Liv will join him in freeing Brahtok. But she fears that her family doesn’t have much time and declines his offer.
Liv sneaks around outside of Camp Ahrenberg and heads down a sewer tunnel that leads into Grieta’s cell
Liv approaches David and informs him that she would like to join the Crimson Republic. She has one provision however. She wants one last visit with Grieta before she’s removed. Liv has come up with a plan to regain her trust.
Liv and David approach Grieta’s cell. Liv steals David’s gun from his holster and with Grieta’s help, restrains his hands to the cell doors with rope. Liv then frees Grieta, and they escape up a sewer tunnel. Liv climbs up first with Grieta not far behind her. Once on the surface, Grieta manages to steal Liv’s gun and knock her to the ground. She holds Liv at gunpoint before returning her pistol, stating that Crows stand by their word.
As they walk through the woods, Grieta notes that Liv and her family must be close for her to be willing to make an enemy of the entire Crimson Republic. Not that it matters. There will only be Crows on this continent in a few years, Grieta says. She asks Liv will she be prepared and what side she will be on when the black wave crashes over the land. Grieta proposes that rather than Liv breaking her family out, she joins them as a Crow. However, Liv isn’t interested.
Grieta reveals that it will be a three to four day journey to Brahtok, depending on how many Crimson patrols they send out, so they’ll have to take the western route to get into the city through Wedding. The old subway tunnel there is the only one not completely flooded, and it leads into Varvara’s factory, Grieta reveals. Having gained knowledge of a way under the barricades, Liv signals the Crimson with a flare gun. Within minutes, David and his men have Grieta in custody.
They return to Camp Ahrenberg, where David notes that her plan was both risky and courageous. Both Liv and David take a drink before proceeding to kiss.
Chapter 4[]
David gifts Liv her official Crimson Republic uniform — also the uniform of the Eurocorps from pre-Black December. The last great project of the European Union before everything fell apart. The Crimson were those who emerged from it. With this uniform, Liv is now a part of history.
Merk arms Liv in the armory. He presents her with a close combat knife, machete, and hatchet. Rather than choosing a gun, Liv grabs the crossbow that came in just two days ago. He warns her that it only fires up to three shots per minute, but she is satisfied with her choice.
With the information Liv gathered from Grieta, they now know that there is one tunnel that isn’t entirely flooded, allowing them to infiltrate the wolk factory from underneath. David explains that there will be two squads: Alpha (David, Vasquez, Sokolow, Grimm, and Warren) and Beta (Merk, Yeboa, Tiago, and Liv). They intend to destroy the factory to weaken their economical infrastructure. Alpha squad will set the explosions in the production sites while beta squad heads to the building with the collection cells, where the slaves are housed, to extract Liv’s family. Lastly, David states that he hasn’t informed Crimson Capital about the mission, and it must stay that way.
The next day, after learning that Merk has left camp, David puts Yeboa in command of Beta squad. Unfortunately, before they can head out, Merk returns with Father. He reveals that Merk has been working for him the entire time, making sure that David never crossed any lines, just as he was intending to do by invading Brahtok. Father charges David with high treason. He will be tried before a military tribunal back in Crimson Capital. And Arhenburg is hereby dissolved.
Chapter 5[]
Liv sits in the woods outside of Camp Arhenburg, where she caresses her tribal brand under a tree while crying. Liv then returns to base to bring David his meal, as he is now being held in the prisoner’s cell. Tomorrow, he’ll be taken back to the Crimson capital, where he’ll be executed. This mission was the best opportunity they’ve had in years, and Father destroyed it. Liv wonders why. David explains that Father wants peace with the Crows. However, David believes that freedom and peace with the Crows would require all of Europa to be under their control. So, he asks Liv to kill Father in order to stop the truce. David is certain that Father will want to talk to her regarding Grieta. She’ll have to use this meeting to kill him. He tells Liv that his people will help her. Afterward, Liv is approached by Yeboa and Tiago, who asks if she’s willing to kill Father. However, before she can reply, Merk approaches and tells Liv that Father wants to meet her in the command room at 1900.
Yeboa approaches Liv with a small capsule of cylarine. A neurotoxin developed by Femen spies. It takes effect after a few hours. Father’s death will appear as a painless cardiac arrest.
Liv meets with Father at 1900 as planned. He wishes to show his gratitude to Liv for all she’s done. He offers her a drink. It’s because of Liv that they’ve managed to capture a Crow for the very first time. A truce is within their grasp. Liv retorts that the Crows would never accept any kind of truce. Father notices that she echoes Commander Voss’ sentiments and says that he too had high hopes for David. He fought alongside David’s father, as well as General Arhenburg. David was in every way his father’s equal and rose to the top rather quickly; promoted to commander at age 25. With Father distracted, Liv plots to pour the neurotoxin in his drink, but decides against it as Father begins to talk about the Crimson Republic’s principles. They are a defensive force that protects the tribes under their flags. But they never attack. They defend an idea. They end wars, they don’t bring them about, something David failed to mention. Father is headed to Brahtok tomorrow intent on giving Grieta back to her people. And he can ask the Kapitan to release her family in exchange.
Liv returns to Yeboa with the cylarine and says that she won’t kill Father. Yeboa replies that this means David’s death sentence.
Liv visits David in his cell and explains just why she didn’t kill Father; he gave her assurance that Grieta and her family would be exchanged. She’s heading out with them to Brahtok for the arrangement. She apologizes, but he tells her that she shouldn’t apologize for acting according to the principles followed by her and her tribe. No matter what, he’ll continue to fight for his convictions. Before leaving, she tells David to have faith in her, as they’ll meet again.
Chapter 6[]
As the Crimsons Republic prepares to move out at Camp Arhenburg, Liv hands Yeboa a stolen access card and informs him that there’s a manhole on the side wing of the headquarters above the boiler room, from where he can break David out. Liv sits in the back of the transport vehicle with Grieta, who she informs that they’re headed back to Brahtok.
The Crimson come to a stop, as there are obstacles in the way. The soldiers move the trees while Liv moves ahead a bit further on foot. Father joins her and reveals that they’re in Femen territory. He says that they should arrive in Brahtok by the evening, recalling how one could could used to fly across Germany within an hour. It’ll take decades to rebuild infrastructure, he remarks. The day they start educating architects and engineers is when they’ll finally be able to make Europa what it once was. Under a Crimson flag.
On the road to Brahtok, Grieta suspects that Liv is afraid of what’s to come. Liv suspects the same of Grieta, who has no idea what’s in store for her. She’s the first ever Crow warrior to be taken prisoner. They’re going to wonder why she didn’t kill herself. Perhaps she was overcome by cowardice or was just too weak, they’ll think. Liv doubts that they’ll accept her as the high ranking warrior she is.
The Crimson are stopped at a border post guarded by nine heavily armed Bozies. Father makes his presence known and requests to speak with the Kapitan regarding a truce. Father introduces himself to a Bozie named Tusk, who moments after shaking Father’s hand, is shot in the head. Father shares the same fate. Within seconds, the barrier post becomes a war zone, Bozies and Crimsons alike being shot from the buildings above. Liv manages to get back to the truck and free Grieta, who is shot in the abdomen during the chaos, but Liv helps get her to some place secure. Grieta tells Liv to leave her, but Liv refuses. David then enters armed with a rifle. He apologizes for all that has transpired, but she tells him never to apologize for his ideals. He then turns his gun on Grieta, who Liv asks him to spare. David then asks Liv to come with him, but she refuses, as he is a murderer, though David intends to blame the ambush and Father’s death on the Crows. Historians will say this was the beginning of the Great War. The end of the reign of the Crows. Then begins the Crismon Age around them. Under David’s leadership. He pleads with Liv to join him. Again, she declines. However, he can’t let her go either. He raises his gun to kill her, but instead fires off a few rounds in the ground and reports back to his team that the threat has been neutralized.
Once the gunfire has subsided, Liv exits the building with Grieta, who is seconds away from death. With her final words, she tells Liv to leave while she still can. A siren then begins to sound. Soon, Liv finds herself surrounded by the Femen. A Femen warrior by the name of Alia approaches and offers Liv refuge, as she will be killed if the Crow finds her.
